New Generation, New Hope
Our baby is here!
Happy, healthy, and whole! What more could any proud papa want? Mother and baby are both doing smashingly, isn’t it wonderful? Marissa agreed with me about the names, Alkanet or Abram, and then all we had to do was wait, which was the hardest thing I’ve ever done, you know.
Still, about 9:30pm last night, Marissa and I were just watching TV, when our little one decided it was about time to come out into the world.

The old folks across the road came running over, wondering what all the screaming was about, and I’m sure they thought someone was being murdered!

And here she is, Alkanet Edith Mellon!
Right now, it’s hard to tell just who our precious daughter looks like, and I’m kind of hoping she’ll look like her mother. My mother and father are absolutely thrilled, of course, and they’re flying out tomorrow to see their first grandchild. I must admit, I am looking forward to showing her off! Mother and Father will just love her, I know they will!
Marissa wants to head back to work right away, so we’ve hired a nanny named Kendal something-or-other, after we’d already interviewed about a dozen. Kendal had impeccable references, hich is more than I can say for the others! We even had two who presented us with fake references, and two had criminal records! I do not want someone like that looking after my child! I mean, the things people will say to get a job! As for the other candidates, they just looked frightening, as if they were quite capable of eating babies for breakfast! Marissa agreed, and she agreed that Kendal was the best woman for the job.
(Don’t worry, Katie! There’s more coming on Andy and Brian, although probably not what you’re expecting!)
